Lisa Fonssagrives

Dancer turned Fashion Muse, turned photographer, turned fashion designer, turned sculptor. The Audrey Hepburn of Supermodels. Self proclaimed as the perfect clothes hanger, Lisa Fonssagrives gives us a little taste of what classic, old time fashion photography was about before all the sex, drugs, fame and hysteria hit the world of fashion photography.
Don't get me wrong I love fashion photography, even still to this day, I think it's brilliant but this..this is something so different.  These photos have elegance, class, simplicity-elements we rarely get to see today in fashion photography with the exception of those who are doing a modern take on these same shoots.
She wasn't just a fashion model. Through he lens of Fashion photography's most discerning historian, Martin Harrison describes Lisa as having five careers but properly focuses on her role as model and muse to some of this century's greatest photographers, in Paris from 1936 to 1939 and in New York, from Richard Avedon to Irving Penn.

First Colored Issue

I worked very hard in making this cover. Finding the right sketch, the right articles, the right font. There is a lot that goes into creating a cover for a magazine. I am Editor for my schools newspaper (I like to call it a magazine since it's my dream to be the Editor in New York for a fashion magazine, but whatever; tomato tamahto, it's all the same) and I'm trying to turn it around. It was finally printed in color (yay) and students are actually getting excited to submit their work. This issue had 12 pages when the ones before I came along only had one or two. It's a lot of work and I'm still running around school like a crazy woman trying to get people excited. After all, to be a good leader you should lead by example. I strongly believe that, and I am so passionate about making this newspaper/magazine something that students look forward to, so I am sharing that passion with fellow students hoping some of the passion rubs off on them. It seems like it's working. This quarter we had our first meeting for the new issue and there were about 12-15 students that came to give their ideas. You don't know how thrilled, excited and grateful I was to be apart of that.

What the Shoe?

This Carin Wester Marbella Ankle Boot ($403 at Urban Outfitters) is freakin' awesome, yet slightly repulsive. I don't know whether to jump for my credit card or start rubbing my eyes because it's possible my mind is playing a trick on me. Is this a rubber shoe? I think it is. It could also, quit possibly, be leather? Yes, it is indeed. Okay, I'm still a little confused but I don't care because this shoe is more than just leather-and aparently rubber-on a wedge..it's a piece of art. Love it... I've been starring at it for the past 10 minutes and I'm not bored yet. Excellent.

Pinto rocks McQueen

Freida Pinto attended the London Film Festival in Alexander McQueen.
Doesn't she look just, GORGEOUS!?
I've been obsessing over anything with metallic detailing-
especially shoulder detailing.

Kate Hudson wore a Prabal Gurung design with a cluster of paillettes on one shoulder
Absolutely Fabulous!

First Look at Lanvin for H&M...sexy!

Designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, the H&M by Lanvin collection will go on sale on November 23 in around 200 H&M stores worldwide Ahhh, so soon, and I am more than thrilled to say that I will be one of the first to be lined up for this. Assuming that I do not have work and that the Woodfield store will launch it-I don't see why it wouldn't-if not my heart will be broken.

A brand new ad campaign was released (above)  giving a little glimpse into what we can expect come November: chic, sophisticated, minimalistic, and classic. I would expect nothing more from Lanvin; absolutely incredible! I am obsessed with the campaign: the models, the setting (the elegance and classic structure), the lighting, the clothes, the accessories, the look in general. They really went the extra mile to keep their signature, mysterious, sexy yet elegant look that Lanvin campaigns seem to go for in their campaigns (below).
Keep up to date with H&M on their facebook page (here)

Closet Diaries

Buckle Up

Today I wore a black slouchy pocket Tee with an a line silk/chiffon layerd skirt from Forever 21 and completed the look by adding a colorful braided belt from Forever 21.

Lately I've been obsessed with belts. I think any outfit can be jazzed up by adding a simple skinny belt, a bedazzled wide belt or chunky studded belt-it completes any outfit and accessorizes any outfit effortlessly while giving the illusion of waist and if you have a body type like I do- rectangle/boyish/boxy/lacking any sort of waist-it's a no brainer. I love the idea of taking an oversized Tee or unstructured tunic and throwing on a belt; it adds character and can transform it from slouchy and unflattering to fitted and something that can be taken from day until night. It's always good to have options.

Oh! Can we take a minute to acknowledge these fabulous multi buckle strap wedges, please?! No, they're not Jeffrey Campbell's but pretty damn close! I got them at Spring on sale -which makes them even better because we all know when you're in college, you gotta find things for cheap! Sale shopping is the way to go. Love them. Adore them. Obsessed with them and if I could I would take them everywhere.

Michael Kors F/W 2010/11 Ad Campaign

Carmen Kass and Noah Mills-who is without a doubt the most dreamiest man in the history of the world (in my opinion- join together for yet another Michael Kors Ad Campaign.  The steamy couple appear in all of the booming designers campaigns and for many reasons the  Fall/Winter 2010 campaign has received a lot of attention and has been the talk of the fashion world.
The essence of Fall is captured by the beautiful rich autumn colors: reds, oranges, yellows, chocolate browns, grays, camel and barley. Thick fabrics, deep cowl neck sweaters, heavy knits, fur vests, and Italian leathers are perfect for the dropping temperatures and the structured handbags and rose gold watches are classic. Michael Kors is the new 'go to' designer for classic silhouettes and beautiful, timeless pieces.
