Today I wore a purple skinny strap tunic with lace at the bottom-I love the look the lace gives the outfit, it adds a bit of sexiness to it. Over the tunic I wore a striped draped jacket, with fitted shoulders, from H&M, a vintage silver studded belt, mixing a rocker edge with the sexiness of the lace-very chic! I finished the outfit off with a pair of amazing Modern Vintage T-strap heels that I spotted at a vintage store in Wicker Park. I'm wearing a double finger "Love" ring that I couldn't resist when I was filling accessories at work. For $3.80, why not?!

Model of the Moment
Crystal Renn
"It's simply bizarre that 'normal'
is the new overweight."
-New York Magazine
As a plus sized supermodel and Author of her book 'Hungry' Crystal Renn, is fastly becoming one of the most talked about and most wanted model in the world-and get this-she isn't starving herself...she's normal! Standing 5'9" and a healthy size 12 she is the change that so many people want to see in the fashion Industry. She's giving people the power and confidence to love their bodies and love themselves the way they are. It's really a breath of fresh air knowing that the pressure of being thin in our weight-obsessed culture is finally starting to drop!
Gracing the covers of countless magazines such as Vogue, Glamour, Elle, and Harper's Bazaar and working with the top brands in fashion such as: D&G, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Torrid-which I'm sure you've seen while walking through the mall. I know I'm stating the obvious here but Crystal is gorgeous, and as a thin person myself I envy her beauty and confidence. She shows young girls everywhere that you don't have to be thin to be beautiful which has been the idea of perfection for the past decade.
It's unfortunate that my summer is only a short 3 weeks because I have yet another book added to my summer reading list. Renn's first book, Hungry: A Young Model's Story of Appetite, Ambition and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves, was co-authored by Marjorie Ingall and released on September 8, 2009. At an early age Crystal Renn dreamed about being a model but it it seemed nearly impossible as a size 16 at the age of only 14. Determined to make her dream a reality she started to diet and lost 40lbs in only a month, the turning point to anorexia and the start of her 4 year journey through the fashion industry and the fight to get her life back. A great insight into the pressures of being a model in the fashion industry. She went to hell and back and isn't afraid to share it with the world...now that's a woman!

The Daily Love
"The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be."

A day in the Windy City
This weekend one of my best friends, Brittany Highlander, came to visit me from Lexington, Kentucky. She had never seen the full beauty of Chicago beyond Michigan Avenue so we got up, caught an early train to Union Station and spent the whole day walking around, soaking in the busy streets of my home away from New York. We walked to Millenium Park, then walked down Michigan Avenue-stopping at a few shops, of course. Then we walked along the lakefront to Navy Pier where we somehow managed to muster up the courage to go on the Ferris Wheel- it was an awesome experience and had an amazing view of the city from the top. Quite an adrenaline rush! After Navy Peir, and spending $8 on a double scoop ice cream cone (oih!) we made our way to Grant Park to see The Buckingham Fountain, then back to Union Station. Our legs were killing us at the end of the day but it was so much fun, and quite the adventure, being in the city and catching up with an old friend.
So Beautiful.

Brittany is wearing some fabulous JLo sunglasses she purchased on Michigan avenue and a super flowy, chic chiffon top (I wish I knew where she got it) and a fuschia Kate Spade purse. <3

Camilla Belle
I first heard of Camilla Belle when pictures of her and Robert Pattinson (my boyfriend) were published in almost every gossip magazine. I have to admit, I never thought of Camilla Belle as a stylista- only as the woman who was seen (possibly dating) the sexiest man in hollywood - but recently I find myself googling her, wanting to see more pictures of what she's wearing, and not who she's with! She is immaculate , her style is chic and its evident that she is not afraid to have fun with her clothes. She mixes classic pieces and trendy accessories to make her wardrobe the envy of girls all around the world. Camilla Belle is fearless when it comes to fashion and, may I add, absolutley gorgeous! It's safe to say that she is one of my new style crushes, right next to SJP and Alexa Chung!

Carrie-Closet-Diaries
I finally got a whole day to myself, no work or school, so I decided to spend it at Barnes and Noble. As a dedicated, almost obsessive-actually, very obsessive- Sex and the City fan I have been awaiting the release of Candace Bushnell's, author of Sex and the City (the book that started the HBO series) The Carrie Diaries.
After stacking up fashion magazines ( all the Vogues, Harpers Bazaar, ELLE, Marie Claire, Cosmo, InStyle, etc) until my arms went numb, I Immediately found my way to the Teens section where the mysteries of Carrie Bradshaw, before moving to the big City, was waiting for me.
"Up until now, Carrie and her friends have been inseparable. Then Sebastian Kydd comes into the picture, and a friend’s betrayal makes her question everything....The Carrie Diaries is the story of how a regular girl learns to think for herself and evolves into a sharp, insightful writer….Through adventures both audacious and poignant; we’ll see what brings Carrie to her beloved New York City, where her new life begins."
This summary, on the inside cover of the book, correlates to my life so much, I just can't wait to start reading it!! I always thought of myself, and wished I was, Carrie Bradshaw...It's the first book on my list for my summer readings. Now, if this quarter will just go by just a LITTLE bit faster, that would be great.
I wore my comfy black leggings from Forever 21, a heather gray cotton zip-up sweater from GAP with a vintage Guess jean vest (with the sleeves cut off), over a long black cotton tee from American Apparel, and my chic forest green, gold studded flats from TJ Maxx. OH, and don't forget my lovely white vintage over the body purse and my "Krysta" necklace (to honor Carrie, of course)! So comfortable and chic, this outfit was perfect for a day of flipping through pages of Haute Couture, fashion ads and the latest stories on styles and trends for the new season.
